The Princeton Neuroscience Institute celebrated the Class of 2023 Neuroscience majors during its annual Class Day Ceremony on May 29th. The event recognized graduating seniors for their academic accomplishments, as well as those that received honors and senior thesis prizes.

Eric and Wendy Schmidt Transformative Technology Fund awards Fenna Krienen

Fenna Krienen has been awarded funding by the Eric and Wendy Schmidt Transformative Technology Fund that "will develop minimally invasive technologies that enable the addition or deletion of large DNA fragments and the ability to “write” new genetic information into a specific DNA site."

Tim Buschman honored with the prestigious Troland Research Award

The National Academy of Sciences recognizes Buschman for his groundbreaking insights into the neural mechanisms of cognitive control, particularly how these mechanisms relate to attention and working memory.

PNI Innovator awards to fund new molecular and computational approaches

The Princeton Neuroscience Institute has granted innovator awards to two cutting-edge collaborative teams. Professors Gould and Buschman, together with the director of the PNI viral core, Dr. Huang, will use their award to develop innovative tools to expand the space of questions we can ask about perineuronal nets. Professors Daw and Witten will use their award to support innovative research at the computational level, testing a new comprehensive framework for modelling reward prediction error in the brain.

Written by former PNI postdoc Brian DePasquale, the article details some of the astounding work in the field that has been performed, with great contributions from PNI faculty and trainees including: Director Mala Murthy, Assistant Professor Annegret Falkner, Professor Ilana Witten, and former graduate students Lindsay Willmore and Talmo Pereira.

NEU 250: Neuroscience Research Experience for Princeton sophomores

The mystery of mosquito’s attraction to humans: a case for neuroscience of natural behavior

The question of the specific targeting of humans by Aedes Aegypti was on the mind of neuroscientist and evolutionary biologist Lindy McBride for long time. She leads the McBride lab at the Princeton Neuroscience Institute where she is investigating genomic and neuronal basis of behavior and the molecular mechanisms by which behaviors evolve using mosquitoes as a model system.
