• Mala Murthy participates at the Brain Fair 2018

On April 12, Associate Professor Mala Murthy participated in the BRAIN Fair 2018 at the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C. and discussed her research on social communication, funded through the NIH BRAIN Initiative, to members of Congress and their staff.

Murthy's presentation titled "What can the brain of a fruit fly teach us about social communication?" reports on studies from her lab and their collaborators on how individual neurons and circuits of the Drosophila brain mediate complex functions such as sensory processing, learning and memory, decision-making, and the execution of behaviors.

Hosted by The Kavli Foundation, Congressional Neuroscience Caucus, American Brain Coalition, Society for Neuroscience, and the Simons Foundation, the BRAIN Fair celebrated the 5th Anniversary of the Brain Research through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies® (BRAIN) Initiative, and to honor both its progress and promise in the field of neuroscience.
