PNI Diversity and Outreach Programs and Activities

Diversity and Outreach in PNI is designed to cultivate partnerships with educational and community-based organizations. We have the interest to add diversity to our Neuroscience community. We would like for students in underserved communities to gain exposure and opportunities in neuroscience as early as possible and to be prepared, qualified and motivated about science.

PNI Outreach at Sankofa Freedom in  Philadelphia, PA – March 8, 2019

Sankofa Freedom Academy is a charter school serving underrepresented Black and Latino students. Our team provided interactive neuroscience activities to 9th and 10th-grade biology students.


The Young Women’s PPPL Conference – March 22, 2019

The Young Women’s Conference hosted by the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory introduces young women in 7th -10th grades to female scientists, STEM careers and a variety of STEM research topics.


Outreach at Urban Promise in Trenton, NJ - April 10, 2019

Urban Promise is a free after-school program for children in 1st through 7th grades, serving the underserved community with the mission to equip children with the skills for academic achievement, life management, and leadership.

The Princeton University Preparatory Program (PUPP) - June through August 2019

The PNI Outreach Team provided a mixture of discussions and hands-on experiments for underrepresented students during an intensive six-week summer program. The summer culminated with the students designing and presenting their own outstanding neuroscience-based research projects.
